Shelby Perry: Assistant Coach

Shelby was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario where she started playing girls hockey for the Ice Wolves at the age of 6. She played her entire minor hockey career for the Ice Wolves and started playing competitively in Atom. Shelby was on the Kingston JR team for its first 2 seasons in the PWHL. She says that although there were definitely highs and lows, it’s incredible to see how far the team has come in 7 years. Shelby was recruited to play hockey at Colgate University in the NCAA on a scholarship. During her 4 years at Colgate, the team began to set program records for most wins in a season, followed by playoff wins and tournament appearances, to its first national ranking. During Shelby's senior year, those records were shattered. Colgate finished with 34 wins, the program’s first Regular Season Champion title, national rankings that reached as high as #2, its first NCAA tournament bid, hosted an NCAA quarter final game, made its first Frozen Four appearance, and first Frozen Four win in the semi-finals against Wisconsin (5-4 double OT win) and ultimately capped off the season playing in the National Championship game. After Colgate, Shelby signed a professional contract to play for the Bolzano Eagles in northern Italy in the European Women’s Hockey Leaguer (EWHL). She is now an active member of the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) which is actively pushing for more exposure to the women’s game, livable wages, more resources, and to ultimately to ensure that female athletes are treated like professionals. Shelby is excited to be a part of the coaching staff for the Kingston JR's, the program that set her up for so much success.
